Session Information
Sound booths used to be the best way to test hearing. But they take up a lot of space and limit testing to one location. This location might not be close to workers or easy for managers to access. In the last ten years, companies have created new ways to test hearing without sound booths. These new methods make hearing tests easier to access and improve hearing conservation programs. The best options can also meet the specific needs of groups like the military, veterans, and other specialized populations. We need to learn more about these "boothless" technologies so we can use them to prevent hearing loss in various settings. This includes workplaces, schools, doctor's offices, and even stores that sell over-the-counter hearing aids. This workshop will show you the boothless hearing test options available today. In the first part, which will be online, you'll learn what different groups (military, veterans, workers, and the general public) need for hearing tests. Representatives from boothless audiometry companies will also give presentations. The second part of the workshop will be in person. You'll get to try out different devices and learn how to use them for hearing conservation.
