International Journal of Audiology

The NHCA annual conference brings together some of the most prominent names in hearing loss prevention.  The quality of information presented at this event is extraordinary. To support the annual dissemination of new and on-going research in hearing loss prevention, the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) has collaborated with the International Journal of Audiology (IJA) to publish selected papers representing the annual NHCA conference since our first joint publication appearing in 2011.

Dissemination of NHCA’s conference presentations helps us to extend our knowledge to the greater world. Additionally, it improves our recognition worldwide as the leading authority on hearing loss prevention. Offering presenters an opportunity for peer-reviewed publication facilitates advancement in their careers, and encourages more submissions and better presentations.

The most recent NHCA-sponsored special issue of the IJA, covering the 2018 Annual Conference, Happy ears for many years, marked our ninth successful publication.  This issue was made possible through the joint sponsorship efforts of our key partner organizations including the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), the Department of Defense Hearing Center of Excellence (DoD HCE), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).  Thanks to CAOHC, the DoD HCE, and NIOSH, NHCA is able to continue this effort for a tenth year.

Through the contribution of hundreds of volunteer hours by authors, reviewers, and editors, and the generous efforts of our partner organizations noted above, we have limited the fiscal burden associated with production of this valuable resource; however, we continue to seek additional sponsors to offset these costs.

IJA publication sponsors benefit by having their organizations acknowledged in the journal, which is distributed to more than 10,000 libraries.  Sponsors are also recognized in NHCA’s quarterly publication, the Spectrum, for demonstrating their commitment and support of our organization and for furthering the dissemination of hearing loss prevention research and practice.

IJA sponsorship can be added on to your overall NHCA sponsorship package, or as a separate donation. Any IJA sponsorship funding not used in the current fiscal year will serve as seed funding for next year’s publication.

Thank you for your continued support of NHCA and of hearing conservation!
