
Dangerous Decibels at 25: Where are we now?

Dangerous Decibels is an evidence based noise induced hearing loss and tinnitus educational program begun in 1999. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the program, an update on Dangerous Decibels accomplishments, a summary of effectiveness evaluations in different countries, new developments, current and developing activities.
- Learning Objective 1: After this course, participants will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of the Dangerous Decibels educational program regarding knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to dangerous sound exposure and hearing protection strategies.

About Billy
Billy Martin has had a long and productive career in basic sciences, clinical innovations and formal and informal education. He enjoyed professorships in Otorhinolaryngology, Bronchoesophagology, Physiology and Public Health at Temple University, Oregon Health & Science University, and the National University of Singapore. He produced over 850 publications and presentations in neuroscience, computational physics, evoked potentials, intraoperative monitoring, tinnitus and sound tolerance disorders, hearing health promotion, and most recently, boothless audiometry. Theoretically retired, he continues to teach graduate students, mentor clinicians and researchers, advocate for hearing health of all age groups and serve on workgroups on safe listening for the WHO. He is and has been since its inception, co-director of Dangerous Decibels. He now lives in southern Portugal were he is an avid surfer.
