Student Conference Award Applications Extension: November 1

Do you know a worthy student interested in the prevention of hearing loss? Encourage them to attend the next annual NHCA conference in Jacksonville, FL February 9-11, 2023. Funding opportunities are available through the National Hearing Conservation Association Scholarship Foundation (NHCASF) Student Conference Award (SCA) program. The SCA includes paid registration to the annual conference, reimbursement of approved travel expense up to $800, and a one-year paid student membership to NHCA. This one-time award is available to students who are actively pursuing a graduate degree in a discipline related to hearing conservation and who are enrolled at least half-time in an accredited university program. Only students with a sincere interest in NHCA and a passion for hearing loss prevention will be considered. To be eligible for consideration, interested students must complete the online application and all requirements by November 1. For more information and to apply, click here.

Find Your Quiet Place (FYQP) Challenge

NHCA is excited to partner again with SoundPrint, a hearing health app, to promote hearing health awareness. During the month of October, 30+ prominent hearing health organizations will participate in the 2022 FYQP Challenge to collect sound level data using the SoundPrint App. The goal is to measure and submit as many sound levels as possible from local venues (e.g., restaurants, parks, shops, offices, theaters, cafes). Prizes will be awarded to the most dedicated participants. The sound measurements will facilitate advocacy for safe noise levels and help communities find quieter places.

Visit the FYQP webpage to download the app, register for the Challenge, get the details on prizes and more.

Latest NHCA "Listen Up" Column in the Industrial Hygiene in the Workplace (IHW) Magazine

The latest issue included the NHCA article titled "Effective Hearing Loss Prevention Programs must Consider both Occupational and Non-occupational Noise" by Richard Neitzel (, September/October issue, page 42). You may access future and past IHW magazine issues here. We will alert you the next time one of our NHCA experts contributes an article.
