NHCA Scholarship Foundation Award Opportunities:

*Please Note: Students cannot apply for both awards concurrently.

Student Research Award

During the fall semester of each year NHCA will select up to two Students or recent graduates (e.g. AuD, PhD, MS, MD) in fields related to hearing loss prevention/hearing conservation at accredited US institutions for research awards. For a list of past recipients click here.  The awards are for completed research (such as dissertations, theses, and special projects) in the related fields. Recipients are expected to present their work at the upcoming or one of the future NHCA annual conventions. The recipients will receive a cash award of $500 and be reimbursed up to $2,000 for travel and registration expenses following their presentation. Receipts must be submitted for reimbursement of reasonable travel and registration expenses which are limited to $2,000. The receipts should show that the expenses are reasonable and not exorbitant (e.g., Coach fare versus first class fare). For the 2021 NHCA virtual conference, the Foundation will award recipients $500 and will pay their registration fee.

Interested students must submit the online application by October 16, 2020 (11:59 PM EDT).

Student Testimonial:

I am so grateful to the NHCA for their help in being able to attend this conference. It is the second year I have made it over from Australia, and both times were more than worth the long-haul. I left the latest conference so wonderfully topped up with enthusiasm and passion for this topic we collectively care for; hearing conservation. It was also a moment of closure, being able to present my PhD amongst peers and examiners who had helped me cross that finish line. In listening to others I learnt so much too, not only from the presentations given, but the corridor conversations between each, discussing anything from earplug make to orchestra engagement.

Student Testimonial:

As an Industrial Hygiene student, my choice to focus on occupational hearing loss prevention often makes me feel like an outsider. It can be discouraging at times, but the connections and conversations that I had at NHCA this year re-sparked my passion in this public health epidemic. I look forward to contributing to this field as I start my professional career, and continuing to connect with this amazing community!
