Every two months, NHCA experts contribute a short article to the IHW Magazine. The latest issue included the NHCA article titled "Pharmaceutical Interventions for Hearing Loss: Could a Pill Protect Your Ears?" by Colleen Le Prell (https://industrialhygienepub.com/digital-edition/, November/December issue, page 35). Future and past IHW magazine issues can also be viewed here. We'll alert you the next time one of our NHCA experts contributes an article.

Scientists using laser Doppler vibrometry found that the average vibration spectra of the moth’s microperforated wing scales includes three resonators, together spanning the sonar frequencies of their predators, 20 to 150 kHz. Modeling these extremely thin structures informs future development of lightweight resonant sound absorbers for acoustic camouflage in stealth operations and for industrial construction design. https://youtu.be/l2EyLfy-eZc Biomechanics of a moth scale at ultrasonic frequencies https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1810025115 Moth wing-inspired sound absorbing wallpaper in sight after breakthrough http://www.bristol.ac.uk/news/2022/june/moth-wing-inspired-sound-absorbing-wallpaper.html Moth jamming bat -- National Geographic Untamed Americas https://youtu.be/GZxK_0OSoFk Six Emerging Solutions for Industrial Noise Control https://www.manufacturingtomorrow.com/story/2022/01/6-emerging-solutions-for-industrial-noise-control/18098/ |
